Happy New Year! We know this is the time of year when most tend to reflect upon the year ending and look ahead to the new year for change and revitalization. Most of us think about getting healthy and eating right. For this year we suggest adding some insurance resolutions to your list that are easy to implement and maintain.

  1. I will do an insurance review with my Agent – The start of the year is a great time to review what changes have occurred. Have you gotten married, purchased a vehicle, added jewelry or art to your collection? When these changes happen your insurance should change too. Take time to review and then sit with your agent so you can make sure that your are not carrying too much (paying more than you need to) or carrying too little (and putting yourself and family at risk).
  2. I will update my personal home inventory – Having a list or video of your personal belongings not only helps during the insurance review process but is very helpful in the event that you need to replace an item due to theft, fire or any other incident. Start today with a Free Home Inventory from the Insurance Information Institute or one of the many apps for your smart phone.
  3. Maximize my insurance discounts – We do try to maximize the most of your insurance discounts available but sometimes there are changes or improvements completed that we are unaware of and this is where we need your help. For example, if you’ve installed a new security system or had a wind mitigation inspection completed please contact us so we can help you take advantage of credits that may be available to you.
  4. Review my Flood Risk: If you are in a high risk area please contact us if you are interested in adding flood insurance to your insurance profile. Even those in a low risk areas may still be subject to flooding. Waiting until a hurricane is eminent will be too late when you consider the 30 day waiting period. Remember that It takes only 2 inches of water can cause thousands of dollars in damage.
